Georgia Senators Vote with Wall
Street
It shouldn’t surprise me to see that both
Georgia Senators voted against financial reform. They have completely ignored
what got our economy into this mess in the first place?
The financial reform bill that was just
passed contains common sense policies that will enable our country to get back
on track towards an economy that works for everyone. It protects homeowners
from predatory lenders, prohibits bailouts for bank shareholders and executives,
and ensures that banks avoid dangerous financial risks. For years, big bankers’
greed got the best of working people. Now, thanks to this bill, we will turn the
table on big banks and corporations that have sucked our country dry. How can
our Senators oppose that? Wait, both also voted against unemployment
extensions. Fact: America has no short term debt deficit; America has a short
term job deficit. Putting Americans back to work will reduce the long term
debt!
This vote was a defining line in the sand.
You can bet that I won’t forget this day when I vote in November – it was the
day both Georgia Senators made it clear that they would rather stand on the side
of Wall Street than protect the Georgians they espouse to represent. At least I
can help lay off one of them.
